Frankston Line (Part 2) Ormond to Southland

ORMOND. 3/4/2017. 35th Run. 11.2km

Planned my run only to find out that the Sandringham trains aren’t running for the next 3 days. So ran to Ormond station instead and made it an out and back - not that I had much choice. Ormond station only reopened in August 2016 after a rebuild and it was very impressive. Ran along Matin St and North Rd to get to Ormond and then North Rd with a zig zag through Gardanvale on the way back. The start of the colder weather at 9 degrees but nice for running.

McKINNON. 14/6/2017. 62nd Run. 12.7km

What was meant to be a simple out and back run turned into couple of near misses to my health. First incident was when I failed to notice a large half meter drop off the gutter of the footpath. Because it was a bit dark I didn’t see the warning signs. Got to McKinnon for the selfie and headed home. Second incident was crossing Matin St behind a car and didn’t realise it had a trailer - could have been painful. Glad to finally get home.

BENTLEIGH. 12/3/2017. 27th Run. 13.7km

Despite being a Sunday morning I decided to have an easy day and do another out and back. This time to Bentleigh. Quite humid with the occasional clap of thunder but I was fortunate to stay dry for the whole run. My wife rode further south and got wet - seems I got lucky with the localised thunder storms. Ran the same route both ways so no risk of getting lost.

PATTERSON. 10/7/2017. 71st Run. 13.5km

Another change of mind run. Originally planned to go to Elsternwick and train to Middle Brighton. But in the end it was easier and faster to just run to Patterson and back. Didn’t feel too bad after longish run on the weekend so must be getting fitter. Underwhelmed by the station with the entrance not much more than a hole in a wall, maybe a rebuild not too far away. Got home a bit earlier than if I had done the trains so good decision.

MOORABBIN. 27/6/2017. 66th Run. 11.5km

This was really only a short run but I complicated it a bit with my logistics. Left my phone at work so had to borrow my wives. Went to Elsternwick and caught the train in the opposite direction to Hampton. From there ran past my first Uni residence on my way to Moorabbin. Took my selfie, knocked back a free coffee on offer at Moorabbin station (not sure why they were free) and finally headed home for the simple part of the run.

HIGHETT. 6/7/2017. 69th Run. 9.6km

Middle of the winter cold and at 4 degrees I was happy to accept the kind gesture of a ride to Highett station from my wife who was heading in that direction. Quick selfie and off to avoid the cold. at that temperature it takes a while to warm up - especially my hands. Just hoping I can convince my wife into more Uber rides whilst the weather is cold.

SOUTHLAND. 28/11/2017. 105th Run. 11.2km

The newest of new stations. Was able to get another ride from my wife to save some time. Dropped me off on Centre Rd and only 600m to Bentleigh station. From there only 2 min wait to catch train to Southland. Slightly cooler than last few days which was nice. easy run once back on Nepean Hwy. Original challenge only had 209 station but with Southland opening this week I had already decided to add it to the list. 210 stations is the new goal.
