Frankston Line (Part 1) Hawksburn to Glenhuntly

HAWKSBURN 5/6/2017. 59th Run.

Another out and back run so no need for the train system. This also meant I got a sleep in for 10 mins. Was at Hawksburn station for my selfie by 6:25 am and with a nice easy downhill run home it was an early finish. And with our coffee machine broken I even had time to call into Combi in Ormond Rd on the way home to buy a couple of coffees for the wife. The last 350 m carrying the coffees wasn’t that fast. Also must have found a short cut home as distance covered less than originally planned.

TOORAK 9/8/2017. 78th Run.

My back is starting to feel better so hopeful of a longer run this coming weekend. Just to be cautious, smaller out and back run today. little bit stiff to start with but good by the end. Missed the best turn off to the station which meant an extra 500 m but such a nice morning and probably good for my back. Spent a bit of time on Orrong Rd and ran past my 2nd year of Uni hostel (Minimbah) and then past the “Block” houses in Elsternwick - not much happening.

ARMADALE. 15/8/2017. 80th Run.

Back mostly good but just a little sore at the start at the moment. Moved into the Torquay house this week so less runs in the short term. Similar run as for Hawkesburn with Orrong Rd the key. Went past the “Block” house again and some progress made. Like the middle one best. Wasn’t planning run today as rain was forecast - but nothing when I woke up so added a bonus run.

MALVERN. 16/3/2017. 29th Run.

The first of the after work runs. Thursday night and home by 5:30 pm and on the road by 5:50. Afternoon out and back run. Not as much traffic as I thought, but still had to stop at every traffic light. Think I prefer the serenity of the 6:00 am roads. Made it home by 6:45 pm so turns out to be a good way to do the runs during hotter summer days.

CAULFIELD. 5/9/2017. 82nd Run.

Not running as often as I should at this stage due to trips to Torquay, still feeling my back and a cold. Just not feeling it. Starting to get harder to find a run I can do that doesn’t need a 5:17 am train from Elsternwick. Instead, ran to Caulfield and back. First use of my blue tooth headphones to listen to music as I go. Nice. Took the scenic route to get there and the direct way back, Still home by 7:15 am.

GLEN HUNTLY. 5/4/2017. 36th Run.

Trains still not running on the Sandringham line so only real morning option is an out and back. Glen Huntly station was built about 130 years ago so very different to the new Ormond station I saw two days ago. Ran past a channel 9 news crew reporting on a jewellery robbery in Glen Huntly Rd the day before. That was about the only exciting part of the morning. Just up and back on Glen Huntly Rd.
