Really is winter. Cold and drizzly morning after night of rain. Drove to Wantirna to start my run and headed up Mountain Hwy, then north onto Wantirna Rd. Turned off onto Dandenong Creek trail which started as concrete then turned into dirt and finally mud. More like a tough mudder through this section in Koomba Park. Finally got back onto Mountain Hwy before one more detour through some residential areas which included laps of and Milera and Templeton reserves.

24 hours later and over a 100 km away and yet the weather is the same as yesterday. Winter. Got the opportunity to run a bit further along the Bellarine Rail Trail although like yesterday there was a tough mudder feel to the dirt track. Not much traffic but did get passed by a lady in a buggy being pulled by a dog. Just a usual day. Got back onto Bellarine Rd just outside Point Lonsdale and headed back to the car. Easy navigation day for a change.

Cold, damp and mud seem to be the constant themes at the moment. Avoiding the North and West at the moment due to CoronaVirus restrictions so headed East, again. This time to Heatherdale station and up the new bike path to the West. Turned north through Antonio Park and onto the track along the Mullum Mullum creek.Cut through Donvale and into Ringwood North. Crossed over the Ringwood bypass and then over Eastlink on my way back to the station.

Now this felt like a combination of Olympic steeplechase and tough mudder. Drove to the north side of Lysterfield Park and started near the intersection of Lysterfield Rd and Wellington Rd. Straight down Boys Farm track and then Thompson track to Lysterfield Lake. Fallen logs and plenty of water to hurdle, but by the time I headed back to the car I was very wet and muddy. Followed Glen Track north towards Wellington Rd and finished on Native track. Brilliant place to run even in Winter. And plenty of spectators, even if they were Kangaroos. Social distancing not an issue for them.

Map 2E. Run #49. 9/7/2020. (Elevation 71 m)

First day of second CoronaVirus lockdown for Melbourne. Knew it would be quiet so went into the city on my bike. Mainly stayed in the docklands area but experience told me that the GPS would not like CBD. Lost me a few times and had to stop and use the old fashion map technique to check I was going the right way. Multiple levels to run on around Marvel Stadium didn’t help. But it did give me a 2:53 min kilometer - I only wish that was true. Finished the 10 km course with my Garmin registering more than 11 km - maybe I ran through a wormhole?
