Map 80. Run #32. 19/6/2020. (Elevation 76m)

Tested increased logistics today with a ride to Caulfield station and got off at Sandown Park before riding to my starting point at Springvale Cemetery. Ran north and crossed under the Monash Fwy and then did a semi lap of the old Waverley Park football ground, now a residential estate. Along Wellington Rd and then south down Wanda St towards Sandown Racecourse. A bit windy but 4 separate rides provided a bit of variation.

Another local run this time in Moorabbin. Bike ride to City Hall and headed to the home of the St Kilda Football Club. Cut through smaller streets to get to Bricker reserve but missed a small alley and had to backtrack to find it. Passed through Highett on my way to Southland before turning north and meandering my way through Hampton East and back to my bike. Feels like Spring.

Found a window on a rainy day to start a run. Began near the corner of Centre Dandenong Rd and Warrigal Rd. Went East towards Kingston Heath reserve and nearly missed another alleyway cut through. Got to pay attention to those hidden turns. Then went South along the edge of Moorabbin Airport and zig zagged my way into Parkdale. That when the rain started, mostly light but a couple of heavy showers. Back onto Warrigal Rd and north back to my starting point.

Double run day in hilly area. Caught two trains to get to Mooroolbark and despite checking the course, I immediately got confused. Headed up Manchester Rd instead of following the track along the railway and that resulted in doing the course in reverse. Just meant no directions from the Garmin but at least I could follow the visual map - which turned out OK. Couple of big climbs in the first 5 km but that meant an easier finish. Short time in Croydon around Barngeong reserve.

Quick train transitions meant I hadn't really cooled down from the first run. Left Lilydale station and headed for Lake Lilydale. Ran half way round and then onto Olinda Creek wetlands and onto Hull Rd. Again the hills kicked in and the road I had planned to follow was closed. Followed Mooroolbark Rd instead, but with no paths for much of that section, it was tricky and a bit dangerous. Finally back on course by turning into Taylor St and then back to the station to head home. Cold and drizzling for the last part.

Map 646. Run #37. 24/6/2020. (Elevation 167m)

Another logistics challenge. This time I stopped for a run on my way to Wangaratta. Detour off Hume Fwy to run through Hidden Valley near Wallan. Hilly route through the golf course and at one stage, wet roads and a fuel spill on a steep section on Hidden Valley Bvd made running very slippery. Got back onto Northern Hwy and south back into town. Got back into the car and drove 2 more hours to Wang. Not a great way to recover and felt a bit stiff getting out of the car.

Map 645. Run #38. 25/6/2020. (Elevation 133m)

Drove back to Melbourne from Wangaratta and again stopped in Wallan to run the map next door. Had a few boundary problems on the run yesterday when I strayed on map 645 whilst running map 646. Made a few adjustments today to even it up. Headed out of Wallan to the west and then onto Rowes lane and past new development before back onto the Northern Hwy. Slight drizzle falling and lots of traffic at school pick up time. Stiff and sore at beginning after a 2 hour drive to get to start.
