Map 2N. Run #20. 5/6/2020. (Elevation 109m)

Nice to have a flat run for a change. Wore my long skins as only 5 degrees when I left home. Parked my bike at the St Kilda baths and did a quick lap of the baths and then out and back along the St Kilda pier. Nice morning for fishing. Wound my way through Middle Park and onwards to Albert Park. Cut across Canterbury Rd and ran a lap of Lindsay Hassett Oval before back to St Kilda to finish. Small lap of the rotunda in Catani Gardens.

Drove to Waurn Ponds Station and headed to Deakin university. Visited the building that I attended when I did my MBA in the early 90’s. Then headed through the uni grounds and back onto Waurn Ponds Dr. Turned left onto Luggs Rd which was as steep as an escalator. I have a habit of finding steep climbs of late. Back under the freeway and tight turn back towards the station. Light rain made for an ordinary run, but nice area.

Second run near Geelong and a chance for an easy run on flat ground. Started on the Bellarine Hwy but nicer to run along Bellarine Rail Trail. Followed for a couple of kms before turning north and, having crossed Portarlington Rd, ended up near the former salt works on Point Henry. Back over Portarlington Rd and a bit of meandering in Moolap before back to the car. Loved not having the hills.

Monash Uni was quiet as clearly the universities are still lacking onsite students. Parked my bike in a park on the corner of Stephensons Rd and Waverley Rd. From there headed south down Foster to the uni grounds. Existed the area near the houses of residence and back onto Blackburn Rd. Then north recrossing the Monash Freeway and into Mount Waverley. Small detour towards Valley Reserve and back to my bike.

Map 2A. Run #24. 10/6/2020. (Elevation 114m)

Bike ride to the front of the Royal Children’s Hospital. Into Royal Park and across to Elliot Av then headed west to North Melbourne. Decided to include a “fly by” of Arden St (tradition home of the Kangaroos). Back and forth around the North Melbourne area and finally back to Flemington Rd before one more short (and confused) run around Royal Park. Gotta love the RCH and gotta be proud it’s in Melbourne.

Map 2B. Run #25. 10/6/2020. (Elevation 123m)

Second run for the day and another very quiet university. Started at Lincoln Square and ran into Melb Uni via Tin Alley. Exited the Uni and suddenly lost my GPS. Had to reset and start the course again before running past the various residential colleges and back south to the exhibition buildings. Criss crossed the Carlton gardens before heading back up Lyon St. Lap of Argyle Square and back to bike. The reset meant it turned into two separate runs. One was 1.6km and the second 8.4km.
