Run 51. Chadstone shopping. 10/11/2019.

How nice to get back to the cooler weather associated with an Australian Spring. About 12 degrees Celsius is heaven compared to Singapore. And with the Christmas season starting, why not head to the capital of Melbourne Christmas shopping – Chadstone.

All that riding in Japan (about 400km) actually seems to have helped my running, with my legs feeling surprisingly good. Maybe cross training between runs actually works.

A pretty ordinary run actually with the majority of it on Glenhuntly Rd which I ran on many times doing all the train stations. Once I got to Chadstone, it was a simple lap around the precinct and then time to head home.

The halfway point of this run marks the halfway point of the challenge to understand the conditions and variables that will maximise my chances to break the one hour, half marathon.

Once all the learnings generated and have been fully analysed, I will create “The Master Plan.” And when the time is right, I will put all the learnings to the test to see just how close I can get to the magical one hour mark.

Felt good to get under the 1:50 mark again and that can be attributed to the cooler weather and at 1:49:19 I’m back on track to beat the hour mark.

My Three Learnings

  1. Temperature is a key factor that impacts the times you run.

  2. Out and back courses easier to remember directions.

  3. Cycling is a good cross training option.
