Run 103. The unfinished Half Marathon. 3/5/2020.
I was occasionally asked if there would be a reason that I wouldn’t complete any of the half marathons during this challenge. I assured people that once I started running, then I wouldn’t stop until I finished it.
Today I stopped – and I didn’t finish.
It was less than two days since my mother had lost her cancer battle. I had started the run to honour her, but I realised that I had already run 102 half marathons for trivial reasons and finishing this one was no big deal.
So I stopped.
I hadn’t stopped when running the 210 train stations, I hadn’t stopped for the 102 half marathons, but when I hit 17km – I stopped. An unfinished run in honour of my mother. Nothing was more important to me at that moment – and it will remain unfinished forever.
Love you Mum. Rest in Peace.
