Run 102. Bonus Run for Mum. 30/4/2020.

One day after the finish of my twelve month challenge and I was back in Wangaratta to visit my mum. It was Thursday afternoon and mum was not doing well. I took a break to run into the Warby Ranges. These were the hills behind our family farm and were the backdrop to much of my childhood. And I stopped in front of the waterfall that we could see from our house after heavy rain. It was flowing as a result of recent heavy rain and it was beautiful.

I ran back into town and circled past the primary school that I attended with my brothers and sister and became the school that my mother became principal of years later. An emotional stop given the circumstances and whilst it was just on dusk, I left my sunglasses on so that no one could see my grief.

I finished the run but was uninterested in splits, heart rate, learnings or average pace. There are more important things in life than running. A quick dinner and back to see my mother as time was not on her side.
