Run 95. Almost to Lake Coonawarra. Trust me. 12/4/2020.

My fourth run on this “catchup” two day break is starting to tire me out. But apparently not as much as my watch. A lack of a charger meant I started with only 17% capacity. My legs were also a bit tired but at least they made it to the end, my watch said goodnight at the 20km mark. I also found a live track option on my Garmin which meant others could track me. I wonder if my llama fan base also has access to Garmin connect?

Decided to run to Lake Coonawarra but a lack of planning before I left meant I had misjudged the distance and by the time I got to the 10km point I was still more than 4 km from the lake. The contingency plan was simple, turn around and go home and run Lake Coonawarra some other time. Fortunately it was a beautiful afternoon and I had plenty of fuel on board courtesy of a hamburger for lunch, so apart from the flat battery in my watch, all good. Ran a brilliant time of 1:41:02 but that was only for the 19.84km that my watch recorded. Not since run number 5 have I run out of watch battery so not too bad. Assume a time of 1:47:15 based on average speed but probably much faster given I was likely to be super quick for that last kilometer.

My Three Learnings

  1. Hamburgers are an ideal pre-run food.

  2. Technology might make some people faster but not me.

  3. Flat batteries are not good for legs or watches.
